Title : Technology Impact Assessment of Banana Slicing Machine
by MARCOS ERRAM BOLLIDO, EMILIO H. CEBU,
Abstract : Technology Impact Assessment (TIA) was conducted in barangay New Mahayag, Catbalogan City. The assessment was participated by the Mahayagnon Women's Association Daan sa Pag-asenso (way to Progress) association. The TIA focused on the use of Fruit Slicing Machine for slicing raw peeled banana to be processed into banana chips. There is an increase in output of banana chips produced by the machine, the association produced from 1 "kabolig" per day using the manual stripper to 4 "kabolig" per day using the slicing machine. The association increases its income from PhP100 to 1,000 every profit sharing. Other products were also produced by the association like calamansi puree, sweet potato, and cassava chips. The machine is effective since women increase their production of banana chips sold in their identified markets. The machine is user friendly, the woman can easily operate and use the machine for banana slicing. The time saved by the individual involved in banana slicing can already be devoted to other banana chips processing-related activities and other productive work..

Title : Crude-oil Exploration and Agriculture in crude-oil producing communities of Ondo State, Nigeria: Challenges and Diversification Strategies
by Temidayo Gabriel Apata, Stanley Anugwo, Kayode Ogunleye, Tanko Paiko, Chika Ifejirika,
Abstract : Past studies argued that crude-oil exploration in Nigeria has led to environmental problems in the crude oil-producing communities destroying livelihood activities in agriculture and agricultural related enterprise. Crude-oil exploration destroys the necessary nutrients that will make crops grown on land and grasses livestock eat. These have led to poor agricultural outputs and income making livelihood in agriculture unattractive. For survival and sustenance, people in this area tend to rely on multiple choices of non- farm rural activities. Hence, livelihood-diversification strategies of farming- households in crude oil-producing communities in Ondo State, Nigeria were examined. Techniques of data collection involved stratification of the area of study into high crude oil-polluted and less/non-oil-polluted areas respectively. Simple-random sampling was used to select respondents from these identified areas. Data were collected on respondent’s demographics in high oil-polluted and less/non-oil-polluted areas. Data were subjected to descriptive statistical, budgetary, regression and inferential procedures. High oil-polluted areas recorded more inequality in income distributions than less/non-oil-polluted areas. High oil-polluted areas indicated a rise from the share of non- farm income sources from 14.3% in the least quartile to 31.8% in the highest income-quartile. Percentage contribution of diversification income to net- income is higher in high oil- polluted areas than less/non-oil-polluted areas by 22.35%. Hence, livelihood diversification income is positively correlated to Net income. These diversified non-farm activities indicated a higher value and larger income elasticity especially in the high oil-polluted areas. Promoting the development of diversification strategies to these non-farm activities can generate meaningful employment opportunities and increase household- income..

Abstract : Bun is a type of Vietnamese rice noodle used to make soup with soya sprouts, dill, split water spinach, cilantro, onion, broth and either beef or pork [5], [10]. It is very convenient, easy to cook, delicious and nutritionally rich and is now gaining great appraisal outside of Vietnam. Currently, Bun is just produced by milled white rice. This article will present new researches to make the Bun from brown rice, a product that is getting more and more attractive due to having more nutrition than milled white rice [11]. The mini Bun machine, which produces Bun with brown rice that can be replaced in restaurants to produce fresh rice bun noodle directly to serve customers, is still a challenge. The purpose of this article is to design and development the mini Bun machine for making bun from brown rice with small dimension with the capacity of 25 kg of bun/ hour by using extruding screw. The Bun which is produced on Proposed design is checked in both quality and food safety..

Title : Impact of Agricultural Extension Performance on Corn Farmers Household Economy
by Mahludin H. Baruwadi, Fitri Hadi Yulia Akib, Mohamad Ikbal Bahua,
Abstract : Performance is the action or behavior of individual agricultural extension workers who are part of their actual work function in the extension organization. Good agricultural extension performance can be generated through the characteristics, competence, motivation, and self-reliance of the instructor in helping farmers to carry out farming. The research objective was to analyze the effect of the performance of agricultural extension on the household economy of corn farmers through variable characteristics, competence, motivation, and self-reliance of agricultural extension. The research was conducted in Gorontalo Province, from Februari to Mey 2020. This study was designed as an ex post facto study. The unit of analysis in this study was an agricultural extension agent with a population of 481 people. Based on the Slovin formula, the research sample was determined to be 118 agricultural extension workers. Sampling was done by proportional random sampling. The data obtained were analyzed following the Structural Equation Model (SEM) procedure. The results showed that the variable characteristics, competence, motivation, and self-reliance of extension workers had a significant effect on the performance of agricultural extension with a coefficient of determination (R2) = 74% which was significant at α = 0.05. While the coefficient of determination (R2) of the performance of agricultural extension on the household economy of corn farmers is 69%, which means that the contribution.
